I am currently planning to make two new documentaries, one in 2026 and another in 2027. I am simply an individual, with the lovely of the hills, the moorlands, sublime landscapes and peacefully flowing rivers. There is no studio behind me. I have no crew, no producers. It’s just me, my camera and the breeze against my cheeks.
Film 1: Courage to Be Alone (working title)
A reflective exploration of transformation in the wild landscapes of Scotland, inspired by the Hero’s Journey described by Joseph Campbell in The Hero with a Thousand Faces. This will be filmed in late April 2026 on a trip to the Scottish Highlands, and released in late 2026.
Film 2: The Spirit of Alfred Wainwright (working title)
A cinematic tribute filmed in the Lake District, exploring Wainwright’s life, philosophy, and lasting influence on those who continue to walk the fells today. This will be filmed across 2026 and 2027 while I am on a challenge of climbing all the 214 Wainwright summits in the English Lake District, including a week-long wild-camping trek in the Lakeland in May 2026.
These films will be carefully scripted, artistically composed, and accompanied by original commissioned music.
Producing such films can be expensive. While being in the outdoors is free, the equipment, cost of travel and any accommodation, trekking equipment (tents, walking boots, jackets, merino socks…),commissioning (non-AI) composers and investing in cameras and tripods and all the rest can be expensive.
